Lavazza and George Brown College

Lavazza is excited to announce our four-year partnership with George Brown College (GBC) Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA)—one of Canada’s premier culinary and hospitality schools — beginning in 2025. This collaboration brings together two leaders in their fields with a shared commitment to innovation and excellence, offering students unique learning opportunities and enhancing campus life.

The partnership officially launched with a special event at George Brown College on May 29, 2025, along with a student baking competition to kick everything off!

Six students from the CHCA competed with their original pastry recipe—using Lavazza Dolcevita Classico—and all finalists received a cash prize towards their tuition.

The winning recipe was developed by student Teo Rapatout—melding the flavours of Italy and France with a “Crepamisu” that featured raspberry, pistachio, and of course—Lavazza Classico.

Through this partnership, Lavazza will introduce several key initiatives, including the Lavazza Scholarship, and a state-of-the-art Lavazza Beverage Simulation Lab. These initiatives will provide students with hands-on training, participation in industry events, and real-world experience to prepare them for future careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.

“We are thrilled to partner with George Brown College,” said Andrea Chiaramello, SVP North America Retail Sales at Lavazza. “This collaboration represents a shared commitment to excellence and innovation, values that are at the core of Lavazza’s 130-year heritage. By bringing Lavazza’s coffee expertise to students at The Chefs’ House and fostering a passion for authentic Italian coffee experiences, we are empowering students with the skills and knowledge to excel in their careers and shape the future of the hospitality industry.”

As part of the collaboration, students at GBC’s Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts will gain hands-on experience with Lavazza’s industry-leading coffee equipment at The Chefs’ House. The Lavazza Beverage Simulation Lab will also host Continuing Education workshops, providing specialized training opportunities.

“This partnership enhances our students’ learning experiences by connecting academic knowledge with industry expertise,” said Rudi Fischbacher, Dean of the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts. “Lavazza’s commitment to quality and innovation aligns perfectly with our goal of preparing students to lead in a rapidly evolving industry.”
