Arabica beans have an elongated ovoid shape, are green-blue in colour and are marked with a shallow, sinuous furrow.
Their ideal habitat is between an altitude of 600 and 2,000 metres: the higher the altitude, the better the sensory qualities of the beans.
The largest coffee cultivators are the Southern and Central American countries, but excellent quality is also found in some areas of Africa and Asia.
