The Italian espresso experience

by Miles Aldridge

Miles Aldridge

Born in London in 1964. His photographs, published in many prominent magazines, have been the subject of several exhibitions all over the world. He has photographed various personalities in Europe and America. His work is featured in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the International Center of Photography in New York.

In 2009, the publishing house Steidl published Pictures for Photographs, a large monograph that collects his photographic works and sketches. He lives in London with his wife and four children.

The protagonist of the 2010 calendar, The Italian Espresso Experience, was Italian music, the spokesperson to the world of talent, positivity and lifestyle. Ready to create such a solar and surprising calendar was the respected English photographer Miles Aldridge, who took seven memorable shots. Miles Aldridge loves colours that do not exist in nature, like phosphorescent yellow, bubble gum pink, the green of artificial grass, and the contrast of opposites. It is not by chance that his style is defined as Futuretro: a mix of futuristic and vintage, lit by a pop and electrifying palette.
