Ferdinando Scianna

Born in Sicily, in 1943. His friendship with Leonardo Sciascia lead to a series of important reciprocal collaborations in the field of publishing. In 1967, Scianna moved to Milan, where he began working for the weekly magazine L’Europeo as a photojournalist and special envoy. He then moved to Paris where he became a correspondent for 10 years writing about politics, photography and literature for numerous important magazines of the Parisian cultural scene. In 1982, thanks to Maestro Henri Cartier-Bresson, he entered the prestigious Magnum agency. He has many active works. Today, he alternates between doing reportage, high fashion work, advertising, and collaborations with writers and photographers. He is recognized on an international level, and continues to work as a journalist.

The style of the 1996 calendar is warm and Mediterranean, thanks to the atmosphere recreated by the photographer
Ferdinando Scianna, who framed the coffee in the sweet twilight of an Italian house and in typical local exteriors, combining the sensual pleasure of the drink with warm tones of the South. The exceptional protagonist and perfect interpreter of these suggestions is Maria Grazia Cucinotta. Ferdinando Scianna was born in Sicily in 1943; he alternates between reportage, high fashion, advertising and portraits. He is thus established internationally, while also working as a journalist.
