Lavazza has always looked to the future and, in 2004, the calendar created by Thierry Le Gouès imagined coffee in space. This dream came true just ten years later when Italian espresso boarded the International Space Station.

Lavazza, Argotec and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) developed ISSpresso, the first coffee machine in space. Lavazza also funded research into the Arabica coffee genome.

The 2015 calendar, made with Slow Food and designed by Steve McCurry, is a photographic journey into the stories of daily heroism of the Earth Defenders; 12 portraits of women and men who defend their projects in Africa with courage, pride and dedication every day.
